I grew up in Southern California and made it my habit to go to the beach as often as I could. I also played as many sports as I could throughout the year. Upon graduating from high school, I went to Stanford University on a football scholarship. I had the good fortune of being on the same team as Heisman Trophy winner, Jim Plunket, along with a number of all-Americans who went on to play in the NFL, like Jeff Siemon (Minnisota Vikings) and Mike Boryla (Philadelphia Eagles). With great players like these, we went to two Rose Bowls in 1970 and 1971.

At Stanford I majored in Industrial Engineering (now called Management Sciences). That developed a love for business. Also while at Standord, I became a committed follower of Jesus. That developed a love for God and people.

After graduating, I took a related, though different track than business, and joined CRU (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) and spent four years at the University of Tennessee, engaging college students with questions about God and faith.

Sensing God’s leading to pursue a vocation of ministry, I then went to Denver Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity. That led to being a pastor at four churches—from a new church of 30 people to being an executive pastor of a church of 750 people (both in California). My last church was in New Hampshire where I was the Senior Pastor for 23 years.

Throughout my ministry, I took over a dozen trips to Mexico, taking people from my churches to serve pastors, churches, and people in a variety of ways in Mexico. Those occasions developed and deepened my love for Mexico and the Mexican people. I’ve been studing Spanish for over 10 years, slowly gaining a little proficiency, poco a poco (little by little).

I “semi-retired” in June of 2019, to enter into my next phase of life and ministry. Nancy and I moved to Sun City West (a small city 25 miles NW of Phoenix), where we currently live with our dog, Cindy. We have four adult daughters (three married, with one living in Australia), and six grandchildren.

I enjoy reading and cooking (although reading is better for the soul than cooking is for my body).

My Spiritual Life Statement is: Because of who God is and what he has done for me through Jesus, I want to bring God glory by striving to love God with all my heart, all my sold, all my mind, and all my strength; become like Jesus in every area of my life; and use the gifts and abilities God has gien me in the fulles tway to fulfill his purposes in my life and in the world.

I enjoy helping business leaders in their role as executives, pastors in their role of leading their church, and people who are curious about spiritual things and wanting to find out more about the Christian faith.

I can connect with you via Facetime, Skype and personally visit you if you are in the Phoenix area or if you will pay my expenses, I will gladly come to come to where you are.
